Cameroon's Issa Hamza takes on Thai Kiatchai Singwancha at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium on Sunday, July 6, in the inferior category of the world boxing championship.

Although Hamza merits fighting in the superior category, the change of category was occasioned by the problem of where to classify him.

After defeating his Uruguay counterpart, Francisco Silva Diaz, to retain the WWF title in the Heavy weight category, Hamza and his coach could not organise a competition after six months as the rules of boxing stipulate. But for the intervention of the government of Cameroon, Hamza would have lost his title. Hence, he has to stake it in Sunday's fight.

Announcing the fight at a press conference in Yaounde, the President of the Cameroon Boxing Federation, Akono Ze, said the decision to stake his title was Hamza's and his coach. Akono Ze argued that it is the sovereignty of the country that is safe guarded.

Hamza's challenger is 25, totalling 30 fights, 25 victories, 15 knockouts, five defeats and no null. Hamza, who is two-times World Champion in the heavy weight, totals 23 fights, 14 victories, six knockouts, five defeats and four nulls.
