Sahr Morris Jr.

Ahmed Deen, Leone Stars left-back, has joined English league two side, Macclesfield Town FC on a year contract.

Deen was among the Leone Stars squad that played in last month's 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifying matches against Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and South Africa.

The 23-year-old player, who joined the league two side with three other players, is expected to feature in Macclesfield Town's opening match of the season against Shrewsbury Town FC on 9 August.

It was revealed that the young defender has been a target for Macclesfield Town Manager, Keith Alexander for some time and his one-year deal has made the player fill the gap left by Shrewsbury's Neil Ashton.

Alexander told the club's official website that "Deen got to take that chance, he's an intelligent lad and the opportunity is there for him. I believe he can perform exactly the same like Shrewsbury's Neil Ashton. "He gives us extra options at the back and much like Neil Harvey is itching to prove he is capable of playing in the Football League." Alexander said. The left back started by joining Leicester City on 3rd November 2007 following trials at Bury, Leyton Orient and Brentford. The previous season, Deen played for St Albans City in the Nationwide Conference and scored in his debut against Maidenhead United. He quickly established himself as the fans' favourite in the club.He also played for Peterborough before playing for a number of non-league teams and most recently Bishop Stortford in Conference South.Deen made his Leone Stars debut against Togo in the 2008 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
