Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Organiser of National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government could not stabilise the cedi to put the economy on a sound foundation for growth.

He said despite claims by government that there had been an improvement in the economy, the cedi continued to depreciate against major currencies.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo was speaking at the launching of NDC campaign in Suhum Constituency.

Mr. Samuel Kwabi, NDC Parliamentary aspirant for the constituency was also introduced to the electorate.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo noted that government had become insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians and called on activists and supporters of the Party to intensify education and campaign aggressively to win more votes for the NDC.

Mr. Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere, a leading member of the Party, called on members of the Party to be vigilant and ensure the will of the people prevailed at the December polls. He asked them not to leave the policing of the election to the polling agents.

Mr. Daniel Ohene-Agyekum, Ashanti Regional Chairman of NDC, said the electorate in the Region, NPP's stronghold, had decided to change their voting pattern and vote for the NDC in Election 2008.

Mr. Julius Debrah, Eastern Regional Chairman of NDC said the unity prevailing in the Party in the constituency had convinced him that NDC would win the seat this year.

He said an NDC Government would establish a community bank at Suhum to contribute towards the economic development of the constituency.
