Ghana: Tamale Journalists Praised For Supporting Growth of NGOs

Tamale — A leader of the Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) has praised journalists in the Northern Region, for their immense contribution towards the growth and sustainability of the organisation.

Good media publications on CCFC's activities, over the years, have pushed the organisation to a great height.

Carol Froom, Vice President of the Marketing and Communications Team, from the CCFC headquarters in Canada, who was in the Northern Region, together with the Marketing Manager of CCFC, Philip Tome, said this on Tuesday, at a press soiree organised for the journalists.

The purpose of the soiree was to strengthen the already-existing relationship, between the organisation and the regional press corps.

CCFC is an international development organisation, focused on addressing the needs of children, in economically poor areas.

It has been working in the Northern Region, for the past eleven years, contributing to the development of the area, and Ghana as a whole.

Madam Froom disclosed that her outfit had been providing support, in the areas of health and nutrition, water and sanitation, education and micro enterprise development, to communities to start up businesses, or expand what they have already have.

In an address, the Northern Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr. Alidu Baba, entreated journalists to continue to highlight more on developmental issues and activities, so as to let stakeholders recognise what non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and donor organisations were doing to bring economic emancipation, to the doorsteps of the people, who they were working for.

Earlier, in her welcome address, Mrs. Sanatu Nantogma, Country Director of CCFC-Ghana, also hailed the northern press corps, and challenged them to uncover issues affecting women and children, saying they were the most vulnerable, in every difficult situation, and therefore needed the help of the media to tell their stories.
