Luanda — Angolan popular singer, Paulo Flores, Friday evening in Luanda's "Coqueiros" Stadium opened a new page in the recent history of the national "music hall" by attracting about 21,000 fans into the show of his 20 years of career.
According to data, this was the fullest show ever achieved by a local artist at that venue, only beaten by the Antilles Kassav band of Jacob Desvarieux, which reached 30,000 spectators in 1985.
Paulo Flores gathered into his show some of his friends with whom he performed a three-and-a-half hours show, marked by the appearance of Eduardo Paim who has been his teacher and pal since 1980s.
The author of "Recompasso", sang a total of 27 songs from the list of his best hits, sharing the stage with such other Angolan musicians as Nanuto, Yuri da Cunha, Patrícia Faria and Eduardo Paim, as well as the old friend Manecas Costa, from Guinea-Bissau, and Cape Verdean singer, Sara Tavares.
According to the organisation, 24,000 tickets were sold for the show that also marked by the return of the Angolan musician, Eduardo Paim, onto the stage, after being 10 years out of big events due to professional reasons.
Paulo Flores and Eduardo Paim were the greatest boosters of kizomba music style in Angola, in the 1980s. The former created the rhythm with electronic music resources, during a critical period of the national market in terms of musical identity.
