Niger State government has concluded arrangements to engage 3,940 unemployed graduates and NCE holders in the state.

The state Head of service, Alh. Abdullahi Dan Yahaya, who disclosed this in Minna yesterday at a press briefing, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the promise made by the state governor to provide employment opportunities for all unemployed graduates in the state. Dan Yahaya explained that early this year, all unemployed graduates and NCE holders in the state were requested to register at their various local government areas of abode. He stated that after the screening, 740 degree holders were identified while 420 HND holders and 2,780 NCE holders were equally identified.

According to him, all the registered graduates and NCE holders will be made to undergo compulsory six months training so that they could become employable in any sector of the economy. The Head of service revealed that the National Teachers Institute Kaduna and the Institute of Administration of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria have been engaged to draw up the curriculum for the six months training. Dan Yahaya explained that seasoned administrators and teachers have been inducted to provide the requisite training for the graduates. He disclosed that during the six months training period, the degree and HND holders will be paid a stipend of N10,000 monthly while the NCE holders will be paid N8,000.

According to him, "after the training, we can boast of a pool of motivated youths who can fill our quota in any government establishment." The Head of service further stated that after the training, majority of the participants will be absorbed into the civil service as teachers. Dan Yahaya said the formal flag- off of the training will be performed by the state governor on Monday.
