THE Competition and Tariff Commission is investigating the textbook distribution industry over alleged restrictive and unfair business practice.

Chairman of the commission Mr Owen Tshabangu announced the probe last Friday through a notice published in an Extraordinary Government Gazette. He said the CTC believed that restrictive and unfair business practices existed within the textbook industry.

"The Competition and Tariff Commission hereby gives notice to interested persons or parties to submit written representations to the commission in regard to any restrictive and unfair business practices within the textbook distribution industry on the local market," Mr Tshabangu said. All written representations to the commission in relation to any restrictive and unfair business practices in the industry would be treated in confidence and only used for the purposes of the investigations. Further information on the investigations can be obtained from the commission's director before July 26.
