Bauchi — Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Bauchi State has said it requires 48 Megawatts of electricity for efficient utilisation and distribution to curb the current power outage being experienced in the state.
The Business Manager of the company, Engr. Dalahol Patrick who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi on the almost one week total blackout in Bauchi and its environs said the PHCN is not resting on its oars to ensure sufficient power supply in Bauchi.
Patrick blamed the problem of power outage to insufficient power to the state pointing out that Bauchi currently receives only three megawatts of electricity as against the 48megawatts expected from the National Distribution unit.
He further claimed that the present situation is not only limited to the state but a national problem which the company is working hard to overcome "as soon as possible".
The Business Manager appealed with the people of the state to bear with the situation as effort were been made to restore an uninterrupted power supply in the state.
THISDAY checks indicate that the problem of power outage in the last two months has been very worrisome to the people as it has impacted negatively on the socio-economic and commercial activities in the state.
