Nigeria: Group Seeks Justice for Sokoto Displaced Women, Children

Some 2000 people and 1500 children belonging to the Islamic Movement were displaced after an alleged government onslaught on them in Sokoto last year, the Resource Forum, an intellectual and research arm of the movement has said.

In a press statement signed by the forum's chairman of central working committee (CWC) Dr. Abdullahi Danladi and made available to Sunday Trust stated that "available statistics has so far indicated that over 180 houses of residence and 25 shops belonging to the members of the Islamic Movement were demolished thereby sending over 1200 men, 900 women (most of them married) and 1500 children to various towns and cities across the country as refugees."
