Nairobi — It is all system go on Sunday as the curtains come down on the "Rock the Races" extravaganza with what has been dubbed as the richest 10-race charity meeting at Ngong Racecourse on Sunday afternoon.

A climax of a beehive of entertainment that started with two polo matches on Friday and Saturday between a visiting British Army team and a Kenyan select side, Sunday's meeting starts with the Fat Boys Household Cavalry race at 12.15pm.

The meeting has attracted the support of various corporate organisations in the country.

Music concert

The 10 races will be followed later in the evening by a major music concert from 6pm where South Africa's international rock star Johnny Clegg and a host of Kenyan musicians such as Wahu, and Jua Kali will entertain the crowd at the Jockey Club all for charity. The 10 races include the Lachlan Agriculture Breeders Mile for the Sir Thomas Dewar Cup.

This is an open handicap race for three year olds and over to be raced over a mile (1,600m). The card also includes the Scicoustic Gooch Cup over 2,800m and the Johnny Clegg OBTS Sales Race which has the largest field of 12 runners.

Cellini's day

Cellini in the Sir Thomas Dewar Cup came a close second to Intwa Dumella over a similar distance but with 62 kilos to carry and against a strong field that includes runners like Drakensburg, Hammurabi, Mulligan, Lichen Field, and House Martin this does not seems to be Cellini's day once again.

Dune Sea and Damara are however the runners to beat in the Scicoustic Gooch Cup.
