The former first civilian Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji (Dr.) Bukar Abba Ibrahim, has described those who were directly and indirectly responsible for the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election as "political coup plotters".

The former governor, who is now a serving Senator from Yobe State, said the election was clean, fair and devoid of any political fraud, but some self-centered Nigerian leaders intentionally turned it up side down.

"I was in the SDP with the late Chief MKO Abiola, serving as one of the SDP governors in my state, Yobe, doing all we could to see that MKO was elected by the majority votes which actually happened. But to our shock some disgruntled elements within their own system, not ours, decided to turn it a little bit to the left and not to the right as Nigerians decided", Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim disclosed in a press statement issued by his former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ibrahim Jirgi, Sunday in Abuja to mark the death of MKO Abiola's 10th year anniversary.

The statement described the Late Chief MKO Abiola as a great person with human feelings, adding that the late politician did a lot to religion, politics and humanity, sacrificing his life and wealth to the betterment of ordinary Nigerians.

He said in the history of Nigeria , June 12 election was the very best political revolution witnessed.

We are still not fully recovered from the trauma of the June 12 political coup/annulment as they are so-called", the Senator declared.

"A monumental injustice was done to us, especially we, the SDP supporters across the country and we are still nursing the wound politically" he lamented.

He also extended his condolences once again to Abiola family and urged them to continue to offer prayers for the late political giant of Africa who died as a true democrat.

According to him, the annulment of June 12 election was the biggest political blunders ever witnessed in the country's political history since independence.
