Sierra Leone: Bangura Eyes UEFA Cup Competition

Leone Stars' fast-rising midfielder, Mustapha Haji Bangura is eyeing his first debut in this year's European Uefa club competition for his Cyprus-based club, AC Omonoia.

Bangura who recently joined the Cyprus outfit on a three-year contract from rival, NEA Salamina will likely make his Uefa cup debut on 17 July against FK Milano of Macedonian away in the first qualifying rounds of the competition.

He told Concord Sports via email that he is looking forward to play in this year's Uefa cup adding that he is always ready to play the game he loved most.

"It is a good thing for me to play hopefully in this year's Uefa cup competition. My team is prepared and as for me I am always prepared to play and help my team achieve victory," he said.

"The team's pre-season training was very tough but we managed to pass it. We are well-determined to play and be among the last 32 in the final round of the competition," he said.

Bangura who was signed by AC Omonoia with his number 10 jersey from NEA Salamina to become the first Sierra Leonean to be signed with his jersey is expected to help the team get success this year especially in Europe.

After joining the Cyprus club, Bangura told Concord Sports: "This is a big move for me. AC Omonoia is the biggest and richest club in Cyprus and they also have the largest fans. I am now aiming to get a good season with them and make my name and lift my country higher," he said.

Bangura won the best young players award last season as he was voted from the Cyprus national TV.
