South Africa: MTV VJ Becomes 5FM DJ

7 July 2008

5FM has secured MTV base VJ, Fikile "Fix" Moeti, as the Sunday night host of The Best of 5 with Fix. Fix made MTV history back in 2006 when she became the first-ever female video jockey on MTV base after winning a nationwide competition to become MTV base's newest VJ.

The Best of 5 with Fix is an upbeat chart show targeting late-night music lovers and students who are 'fixated with the charts', with an eclectic playlist compiled from the best of 5FM's chart shows every week, including the 5FM Top 40, MTV Total Request Live Radio playlist, the Heat Brit 40, the Vodacom HI 5 @ 5, and the Top 5 Old School Trax of the week. The bubbly 21 year old presented her first show as a 5FM DJ yesterday, Sunday, 6 July 2008, from 10pm to 1am.

MTV 5FM Total Request is broadcast on both 5FM and MTV base. Fix is the show's 'roving reporter' and primary link to the 'streets', covering everything from events and launches to opinion pieces and interviews.

Making her mark in radio has been a long term ambition for Fix: "I am thrilled to be joining 5FM as part of their regular lineup and joining forces with the likes of DJs such as Fresh, Elana Afrika and Gareth Cliff. This is a dream come true."
