The remark was made by the Club's new Governor of 9120 District, Professor King Akpofure Nelson Esievo, during his induction ceremony at the Ahamadu Bello University (ABU) indoor sport complex.

Professor Esievo said it is an embarrassment to the 9120 District of the Rotary Club, comprisign some 14 Northern states, that Polio still exist in the district 23 years after the Club had promised the world children of total eradication of the scourge. He said it is on that grounds that the District will partner the Nigerian governments to fight Polio.

Earlier in his handing over speech, the outgoing 9120 District Governor, Engr Salisu Ahmed, had said in his one year in office, the district executed 54 water projects which cuts across the states making up the District.

"The water projects cost the District the sum of $50,000. Efforts are also geared to assist states that make up the District in the improvement of their healthcare facilities. The 9120 District has also improved on members' enrollment in the last one year from 527 to 790," Engr Ahmed said.
