Neneh Cham-Chongan, who is representing Hamadi Sowe in a trial involving concealment of treason, last week, filed an application to enter into voire dire to establish the voluntariness of the cautionary statement allegedly obtained from her client.

Defence Counsel Cham-Chongan filed this application on Wednesday, when the trial resumed before Justice Yamoa of the Criminal Division of the High Court, Banjul. State Counsel Merley Woods raise no objection.

The presiding judge granted the application and adjourned the case to July 9, for continuation of the proceedings.

Hamadi Sowe is being tried for alleged concealment of the 21st March 2006 foiled coup, plotted and led by the ex-chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Col Ndure Cham.
