The Gambia Football Association (GFA) has invited Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars for an international friendly in Banjul as part of both teams' build-up for the 2010 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

In a letter signed and sent to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) by GFA Secretary General, Jammeh EK Bojang, the Gambians are requesting for the match to be played next month in line with world football governing body's calendar.

Bojang also stated in the letter that they will provide all the necessary support for the match to be successful one.

The letter reads: "We will avail your national team all the logistical supports to make this match a great success by providing your delegation with full board and lodge at a first class hotel as well as local transportation." Though SLFA has not issued an official response, reports from within the football association (FA) secretariat indicate that the Gambians' approach is positive.

Reports also have it that the SLFA executive will be meeting shortly after which a reply will be sent to the Gambians. However, there are indications that the match would likely go ahead.

Leone Stars coach, Ahmed Kanu welcomed the invitation saying it will be a good warm-up for his squad as they prepare to face Equatorial Guinea in Freetown on September 6.
