Gerhard Mukuahima recently joined Standard Bank Namibia from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, where he was working as an agricultural extension officer since 2002.

At the Ministry he was involved in training and advising commercial, emerging and communal farmers of the Oshikoto Region on farm management and production.

Mukuahima was also involved in the Emerging Commercial Farmers' Support Programme, which is jointly run by the Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU) and the Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU).

His qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (University of Namibia) and Master of Science degree in Agriculture (Production Management) from the University of Pretoria.

"One of my strategies will be to help Standard Bank to better understand the needs of the farmers through the development of tailor-made products for this specific market.

Secondly, I would also like to build up strong business relationships with the farming communities and other relevant stakeholders in the agricultural sector," Mukuahima said.
