BULOBA SS students have joined other institutions and individuals in the fight against HIV/AIDS through drama that portrays cultural practices that have fuelled sexual immorality.

Students performed different cultural dances that included the Gisu from the eastern region, which they said has lured many youth into premarital sex, hence exposing them to the risk of contracting the disease.

Other cultural practices the students attacked included the Kiganda traditional healing by witch doctors, done in shrines, that has left many young girls and adults raped and defiled on the pretext of healing them.

Rebecca Kiwanuka, the headteacher, said students have been defenceless in sex-related matters that can lead them to contracting the disease, hence a need to alert them on these practices through dance and drama.

"I am optimistic that these students would be in position to disseminate this information to other students in different schools and people with whom them live," said Kiwanuka.

The campaign also attracted old students of the school who are now at various tertiary institutions. They also vowed to support the school in its endeavour to fight against HIV/AIDS.
