Yumbe district's Daniel Yeko gave national thrower Patrick Kibwota a scare as the West Nile track and field championships produced another javelin star.

In the rain-interrupted competition, Kibwota would have been confident after a throw of 63.60m in the javelin, but from nowhere came another 61.40m from Yeko.Yeko, who had never taken part in a national competition, looks set to set up a thrilling Javelin event at the national championships at Namboole later this month.

MTN sponsored the the one-day championship.
