Uganda: Nyakairima Reshuffles Army Officers

THE Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, has transferred former intelligence coordinator and special presidential adviser, Brig. Elly Kayanja, to the army headquarters.
In a reshuffle announced yesterday, a total of 36 officers between the ranks of Brigadier and Captain were given new appointments.
Brig. Sam Waswa of Nakasongola Cantonment takes over from Kayanja, who once headed the Internal Security Organisation and also commanded Operation Wembley, which cracked down on armed robbers.
Brig. James Sebagala becomes the commandant of the Nakasongola Cantonment, while Col. Dr. P. Bukenya is the new director of medical services of the UPDF airforce.
Acting army spokesperson Chris Magezi said the reshuffles take immediate effect.

"The transfers are aimed at improving the efficiency of service delivery as well implement the recommendations of the Defence Reform Unit."
