Lafia — Malaria drugs worth of N21 million were released for free distribution by the Nasarawa state government yesterday.

The state's Commissioner of Health Alhaji Abubakar Dahiru, who unveiled the drugs at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, said the drugs were meant for children of under six years of age. The commissioner noted that the state government would ensure that the drugs got to the grassroots where vulnerability is acute. The commissioner said a committee would be put in place to ensure compliance with all guidelines on the use of the drugs throughout the state.

The state government, he pledged, would ensure that the drugs reached all the state government owned health facilities and institutions across the state.

He warned pharmacists and other medical personnel against commercializing the drugs, noting that any pharmaceutical store or health personnel caught selling the branded drugs would be dealt with accordingly
