Uyo — Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State yesterday, re-constituted a 23 - member state executive council to rejuvenate programmes and polices of government for the rapid transformation of the state socially and economically.
Among them are four new commissioners: Mr. Aniekan Umana, Ministry of information; Barr. Goddy Archinbong Umoh, Ministry of special duties, Mr. Samuel John Efanga, Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Lawrence Orok Udosen, Ministry of Economic Development as well as Mr. Imo Udobia who takes charge of Bureau of Political and Legislative Matters as Special Adviser.
Those dropped include Dr. Ebebe A. Ukpong, Dr. Chris N.Ekong, Mr. Essien Attah and Barr. Patrick Udomfang.
While performaing the inauguration at Government House, Uyo, Akpabio charged the commissioners to regard their appointments as selfless service to the people of the state.
" Let me use this occasion to charge people who have found themselves in positions of responsibility in this state to regard their service as a watchword. Gone are the days when people who found themselves in government worked solely to pursue personal gains. We are determined to make Akwa Ibom State better than we met it and to be consistent with my style, we must KEEP THE PROMISE.
"You must regard yourself as servants and not masters of the people and display unflinching suport and loyalty to this administration", Governor Akpabio said.
Meanwhile, fifteen old Commissioners have been re-deployed to new Ministries, while Mr. Sunday . Akpadiaha, Comrade Udo Kirian and Barr. Saviour Udo still retained their portfolios as Special Advisers on Public Service matters, Labour and Productivity and Cooperative Development respectively.
Akpabio, who said the cardinal objective of his adminstration is predicatd on a 9 - point agenda to promote an era of self actualization and prosperity for the state, urged the appointees to ensure the promotion of such ideals for the development and sustenance of the general good of the people of the state.
These values, according to him, include selfless services, transparency and accountability. "You must promote the general good of our people in the discharge of your duties as against selfish and parochial interest", he said.
