Lagos — Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission, Mr James Tansley, has commended the efforts of an international Voluntary Organization- Global Dream, in its consistent fight against malaria.
Receiveing a delegation of Global Dream at his Maitama office in Abuja , Mr Tansley, said he was impressed with the concerted efforts made by the organization to sensitize Nigerians on the fight agains malaria.
The Deputy High Commission assured that the British Government would continue to support Nigeria and other African nations in the fight against the dreaded malaria disease.
The envoy who signed a Special book designed to raise funds to fight the malaria scourge, promised to assist Global Dream in the procurement of insecticide treated nets and anti-malaria drugs to help assist thousands of sufferers of the disease daily including mass distribution to most severly affected areas of the country.
"Malaria is so serious," he said, "that it requires the collective effort of all of us to fight it because it is a disease without bordrs and it affects all irrespective of race or religion. My son was seriously attacked by malaria some couple of months ago and I hink it was time we all supported organizations like Global Dream to fight malaria to a finish and I assure you that the British Government is committed to this."
Mr Tansley was amongst distinguished personalities from various walks of life that had participated in the Global Dream's maiden Malaria Walk, held in Abuja recently.
Presenting a Certificate in appreciation to Mr Tansley for partcipating in the Global Dream Malaria Walk, the leader of the delegation, former Federal Legislator Dr Andie Clement, praised the British Deputy High Commissioner for his interest in humanitarian activities.
