President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has decided on Wednesday to increase the number of members of the Democratic Constitutional Rally's central committee by adding to the national list, two members of different gender, under thirty years old. The new members will be appointed from the coordination committee, as well as the Rally's structures abroad.

The move comes as a bid to promote the place of young people in public life, as well as within the Democratic Constitutional Rally itself.

The news of the decision was announced following a meeting of the Rally's political bureau on Wednesday, which was chaired by the Tunisian President.

The meeting also reviewed the progress achieved in the preparation for the "Congress of the Challenge", which is due to take place on from July 31 to August 2, 2008.

The political bureau also listened to a briefing on the recent election of the Rally's delegates, among whom 32% of women were elected.
