Minister of Information and Communications yesterday said President Ernest Bai Koroma is fervently ready to give his support to local councils across the country for efficient service delivery to the people.

Speaking at his ministry's weekly press conference in Freetown, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo said the president has categorically explained that he will ensure that all the councils get the same benefits regardless of their political leaning.

"The local council election is significant because the system of government has been over-centralized for too long. Therefore, the president is ready to cooperate with councils because he is the President of the entire Sierra Leone. It doesn't matter whether it is Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) or All Peoples Congress (APC)-dominated council," he said.

Kargbo said though his government inherited financial difficulties, they are working hard to address their financial obligations citing that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has considered Sierra Leone on certain financial matters.
