As the committee responsible for organising the annual Northern Zonal Book Fair sets to stage this year's edition of the book fair which's maiden edition was held in Abuja last October, it has received a much necessary motivation from no less a personality than the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa.

The DG who is also the chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria reiterated the promise made to the committee last year upon his appointment as the Grand Patron of the annual book fair. "Education for all is the business of everyone of us. Therefore, whatever I can do to ensure the success of this book fair, I will not hesitate to do it. I will see what I can do in terms of using my position as the chairman of BON to ensure that there is adequate publicity and media coverage for this project because it is a noble cause" the DG who was also recently re-elected as the President of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.

Alhaji Sanusi Nassarwa, a Director at the National Library of Nigeria and chairman of the committee reveals that the Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa also made pledges of financial support on behalf of his organization and himself. "This is a good motivation for us. As far as this year's edition is concerned, he is the first and only person to have shown interest in supporting this book fair on personal and organizational capacity. That shows the kind of person he is because as he has said, education, especially in the north is the business of all and that is what events like this annual book fair are expected to help address. We are indeed very grateful to him and could only hope that other individuals and organizations we have contacted will emulate him"

Though the chairman did not disclose the worth of the pledge, he was however optimistic that support will come from other corporate establishments, governments of the 19 northern states and individuals whom the committee have contacted. The four day event is billed to hold in September.
