KAITA Local Government Council in Katsina State has awarded N5 million bursary to students from the local government studying in various institutions of higher learning in the country.

The council Chairman, Alhaji Yunusa Dankama, said in Kaita that 600 students would benefit from the award for which payment had already commenced.

He explained that undergraduate would receive N10,000 each, diploma and NCE students would get N7,000 each, while those undergoing certificate courses would get N5,000 each.

He said "the council introduced the award to assist indigent students and to facilitate further studies."

He noted that the bursary was part of the council's efforts to boost education and urged parents to ensure that they enlisted their children into school, especially the girls.

Dankama advised the benefiting students to reciprocate the gesture by rededicating themselves to their studies.
