East Africa: Tusker Defeat Simba As Gor Pip World Hope

Nairobi — Kenya's Tusker FC started their Cecafa Club Championships campaign on a winning note by edging out Simba SC of Tanzania 3-2 at the National Stadium in Dar es salaam on Saturday.

Tusker scored through Simon Mburu in the ninth minute, Oscar Kadenge (45th) before John Keo got the winner in the 53rd. Simbs scored through Ulimboka Mwakingwe and Adan Kingwande.

Mathare Youth 2 KCB 1

Two strikes from Daniel Waweru in the second half gave Mathare Youth a 2-1 win against unlucky KCB in a Kenyan Premier League tie at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday.

Harambee Stars freshest trialist Joseph Njuguna pulled one back for the bankers while Mathare United old boy Paul Ambembo hit the cross bar.

KCB should have taken the lead in the 39th after Jacob Keli had shown his marker a clean pair of heels but he chose to sky his shot when four teammates were lining up for the kill.

Mathare Youth punished the bankers five minutes after the restart when Daniel Waweru finished of Joseph Mbugi's tap on. KCB replied on the restart.

Njuguna taking advantage of Mathare's failure to deal with a punt from deep to stab the ball home.

Gor Mahia 1 World Hope 0

Striker Steve Biko scored the only goal of the match as Gor Mahia ended their winless run with victory over visiting World Hope at the City Stadium.

Biko, who missed several chances in the match, superbly slotted home on 82nd minute after latching onto a superb through-ball from fellow striker Elisha Ochieng.

Sher 1 Sony Sugar 1

Visiting Sony Sugar held Sher Karuturi to a one all draw in a balanced match at Sher Karuturi Stadium. Sher drew the first blood through Jacob Omondi in the 55th minute after releasing a hard shot at the edge of the 18 meter box beating Sony custodian Gadi Kauodi.

Sony fought back gallantly to level terms in the 70th minute through Fred Ajwang after second half substitute Dennis Ochieng's spade work. Sher controlled the midfield through David Seda but was let down by a blunt striking force.

Agro Chem 0 Bandari 1

Bandari collected three rare points playing away from home when they beat Agro Chemicals 1-0 in Muhoroni thanks to Abdul Razak Ali's goal in the 55th minute.

Chemelil 2 Ulinzi Stars 2

Chemelil Sugar battled to a 2-2 draw with visiting Ulinzi Stars in Chemelil.
