Apart from the donation of pumps, YCF has also provided a total sum of 3.9 million/- to improve the water supply system at LITI Tengeru, said YCF chairman Mr. Peter Reed last week.

The cost included the total value of material as labour was provided by LITI staff, students and the 12 YCF members including one non member who is a designer and manufacturer of that make of pumps.

Mr. Philip Selwyn, designer and manufacturer of Papa pumps said the pumps would supply more than 12,000 liters of clean and safe water to the institute and to other nearby villagers daily.

The advantage of Papa pumps over other pumps is that they neither use solar nor electricity but operate through water power which works by the support of gravity.

MR Maleshi a supervisor during the implementation of the project and one of the LITI staff said the improvement of water project done by YCF would help them in environmental conservation.
