Namibia: IT Firm Celebrates With Change of Name

15 July 2008

Windhoek — A local information and technology company has re-baptised itself with a new name in celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Logical Networks, an information technology service provider, has changed its name to Salt.

The company said the name change and new corporate identity arises from Logical Networks' re-alignment and sharpened focus on the services that enable customers' businesses.

"The essence of our business is that we are a Namibian company that can focus on the unique requirements of our clients. This enables unique solutions for them from a company that understands the Namibian business and information and technology (IT) culture and how best to offer them IT solutions that can be supported locally," said Vanessa Badenhorst, Business Development Manager of Salt.

Established in 1998, the company has grown and has established offices in Walvis Bay and Otjiwarongo. Today, Salt boasts a staff complement of 20 people - all Namibians.

"They are fully trained and certified in systems such as Cisco, Microsoft and Hewlett Packard," said Badenhorst.

Salt provides outsourcing, hosting solutions and IT platforms consulting and services to clients.

Badenhorst said at Salt, training and certification is continuously updated to eliminate the need for clients to have same skills in-house.

Salt has through this approach and its local insight, been able to position itself as the complete IT solution for its clients. It has, in effect, become their IT departments. They (clients) understand that it has built the capacity, the technical know-how and the expertise to give them the peace of mind to do what they do best - staying focused to run their own businesses, said Badenhorst.

In 2007, Salt partnered with The Document Warehouse and created a bulk storage solutions facility for both hard copies and electronic versions of documents, allowing clients to store only their current information on their business premises.

"This in particular, is a first for Namibia and rivals the best storage solutions in the world and translates into us understanding what our clients needed and giving them tangible and reliable solutions," said Jurgen Weiss, Managing Director of Salt.
