Yobe — A total of 300 seats have been allocated to Yobe State Government by the National Hajj Commission in preparation for the 2008 Hajj operation.

A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ahmed Wakil Sarki at the end of the 12th Executive Council Meeting presided over by the state Governor, Senator Mamman Ali, stated that the council has approved the payment of N120 million for the exercise.

The statement added that the council has also ratified the cost of the construction of 500 Housing Units currently being built in the state in all the 17 council areas.

However, the upward review of the cost of the project by the council has led to the increase in the amount from two billion to three billion Naira.

For the Nguru-Gashua road rehabilitation work, additional five million naira was approved by the council, citing escalation in the cost of bitumen, NGO lubricant and other materials as well as increase in the length of the failed portions of the road from 14 KM to 21.5KM as reasons for the additional.

Also, the Government approved N131 million for the training of science teachers at the National Mathematical Centre Abuja to ensure productivity.
