The Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) is considering to fine Sudanese club Al Hilal for failure to take part in the ongoing Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye told Times Sport yesterday from Dar es Salaam by telephone that they will hold a meeting to decide what action to take against the Sudanese champions.

"The case of Al Hilal will be discussed during our assembly, which will sit before the end of the ongoing tournament," Musonye said.

This year's tournament is missing the two top clubs in regions; Al Hilal and El Merreikh both of Sudan, who withdrew so that they can commit themselves to the Africa club competitions.

Al Hilal was the best team from East and Central Africa to reach the semi-final of last year's Africa Champions League while El Merreikh were finalists in the Africa Confederation Cup.

Musonye said the absence of the Sudanese clubs was definitely a blow, but added it will not rob the tournament of its spice.
