Nigeria: Sheriff Tasks ANPP Stakeholders on Democracy Divdends

Maiduguri — Borno state governor, Senator Amodu Ali-Sherrif has advised political office holders in the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), to always carry the people along in their quest to attract democracy dividends in the state.

The governor gave the advise in an interview with newsmen in Maduguri the state capital shortly after the ANPP stakeholders' meeting in the state, urging politicians, particularly elected members to endeavour at all times to go to the grassroots and find out their needs with a view to solving them.

"I call on the elected members of the ANPP to go to the villages and talk to the people at the grassroots to know their problems. I also urge them to advice us if we forget anything which we promised during our campaign with a view to addressing such issues," governor Sheriff said.

He warned that anybody who refused to carry his people along should blame himself when it comes to election.

The Governor also used the forum to warn elected chairmen of the 27 local government areas of the state to be prudent in handling public funds and be accountable to their people by keeping them abreast of the happenings in government. The meeting is a forum provided to all ANPP members in the state to discuss on how best to move the party forward.

The meeting had in attendance all the elected members of the National Assembly, the State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council including the chairmen and the party stakeholders.
