Mrs Stella Kilonzo has been confirmed as the chief executive officer of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

She has been in the position in an acting capacity since November, last year, when her predecessor, Mr Edward Ntalami, retired.

Mrs Kilonzo emerged as a disciplinarian, pushing service providers under CMA to comply with regulations.

Besides placing Nyaga Stockbrokers under statutory management last March , she put six other brokerage firms on extended licences and only renewed their permits in May after they put their houses in order.

She is expected to boost investor confidence and lay foundations for new products in the market. The CMA regulates a sector worth about Sh1.5 trillion.
