Luanda — Members of the German Federal Parliament Wednesday in Luanda expressed to the assistant minister to the Angolan Premier, Aguinaldo Jaime, their interest in setting up a Volkswagen assembly line and a commercial dealer in Angola.
During the audience granted by Aguinaldo Jaime, the European MPs also showed interest in investing in the sectors of agriculture, building of infrastructures and service delivery.
Speaking to press, the deputy of Social Christian Party, Kurt Rossmanith, said that the meeting served to increment the economic relations between the two countries and discuss the possibility of setting up business-related partnership in the abovementioned sectors.
Aguinaldo Jaime, who received from the legislatures a letter from German Federal Parliament, said that "he sees the cooperation between both countries with a great satisfaction" and assured that there is space for the participation of Germany in the reconstruction of the African country, taking into account the existing business opportunities.
The Premier's aide said that as result of good economic relations, Angola had already regularised its debt with Germany and it is currently negotiating a credit-line of "significant amounts", that he would not revealed.
"Germany wants to keep more and more its presence in our market and it thinks of opening a commercial epresentation, which will enable a greater approach between the two business communities", he stressed.
Mr Jaime added that Luanda International Fair (FIL) has a significant presence of German companies that intend to participation in the national reconstruction process.
The Angolan official said that the intention of German business officials to invest in mining sector meets the strategy of the Government in diversifying the economy, in order to match the economic growth with the citizen living level.
The meeting between Aguinaldo Jaime and German MPs focused on the strengthening of economic relations between the two countries and discussing business opportunity in the Angolan market.
