Tunis — A new all-female music group calling itself "Hourriet Tounes" (The sirens of Tunisia ) was recently created by the music production company 'Noujoum Ben Ammar'. It is composed of fifteen young musicians, namely instrumentalists and singers who share a common passion for music.
These young talented musicians studied at the Tunis Higher Music Institute where they were encouraged and trained to be creative in their interpretation of Arab music be it oriental, Maghrebi or Tunisian. The group whose repertoire is eclectic and varied also includes modern compositions by renowned contemporary composers.
Led by Maestro Miled Melki, "Hourriet Tounes" performed for the first time on June 28 at the Tahar Haddad Cultural Club, located in the Medina . The show was attended by a public of connoisseurs which largely applauded the two soloists: Asma Othmani and Asma Ben Ahmed.
The newly created group has a busy schedule for the coming few months, as they will take part in summer festivals and will perform during Ramadan next September.
"Hourriet Tounes" follow the steps of "Al-Azifet", Tunisia 's first all-female music orchestra, which has already carved out a place for themselves among the public and that has performed internationally, giving concerts respectively in Washington , London , Madrid and Paris .
