Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) yesterday disclosed that the disagreement caused by Dauda Tombo Bangura's declaration of his intention to head the party in the 2009 convention has been settled.
"Members of the party have resolved their differences for peace, unity and progress," says Mohammed Bangura and added that Tombo Bangura, who last Saturday declared his intention to lead PMDC, has since embraced the party's incumbent leader, Charles Francis Margai.
Tombo Bangura's declaration created some division within the party which prompted its executive members to hold a meeting yesterday to resolve the differences.
The Publicity Secretary said the peace settlement has not stifled Tombo Bangura's intention to head the party as he has much respect for Margai and has expressed his willingness to continue working with the leader until the party's delegate elections.
Mohammed Bangura said Tombo Bangura's declaration to head PMDC is not a major issue as Margai and Tombo Bangura have realized that the party is bigger than the two of them and they cannot tear the party apart because of their differences.

The PMDC scribe urged party members to have love and respect for one another as the party can only move ahead through unity. "We are happy for the peace and solidarity Margai and Tombo Bangura have shown. It is a symbol of oneness. I am expecting all of us to emulate the good example of the leadership of PMDC," he said.
