It's all systems go for the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) Presidential Music awards finals.
The competition and judging take place at Tsholofelo Park in Gaborone on Saturday with the awards ceremony slated for Ditshupo Hall the next day.
Adrenaline is expected to rise as every contender tries to impress the judges and walk away with a whopping P15,000 and a trophy.
This is by far the most commercially rewarding awards to take place in Botswana and all those who have reached the finals can be expected to leave nothing to chance in an attempt to get the most votes.
The venue is expected to be filled to capacity as the show has some of Botswana's cream competing for the award. Observers will be looking with keen interest especially at Live and Back track categories.
While Mohuhutso, a kwasa kwasa group based in Hukuntsi and Francistown-based Getto Luv are relatively unknown, they do not need popularity to win the award. All they have to do is put on a convincing performance on the day to get the judges' nod.
But that cannot be an easy feat especially when such less known groups find themselves wrestling against heavyweights like jazz queen Puna Gabasiame as well as one of kwasa kwasa's great ambassadors, Jeff Matheatau.
But while the first two groups will be underdogs, it will be suicidal for their more experienced competitors to assume it will be an easy ride to the P15, 000 prize money.
But Matheatau will not only have the "minnows" to worry about, he faces another lion in Gabasiame, jazz music's golden voiced woman.
In the Back Track category, Dikakapa, who were recently nominated for an African Kora Awards get a chance to test their strength ahead of their "big" day. It is no child's play to compete against the likes of Chris Manto 7, kwaito dynamite Stompie as well as gospel's young prince Vusi.
The Up Coming category also brings up some interesting names. All of them are not only aiming to pocket the prize money, to them it is also a chance to make a lasting impression on fans, record company executives as well as promoters.
Disco musician Mercy from Maun finds herself pitted against the likes of Madd Doggs, Marabele Cultural Troupe as well as Gaborone's latest kwaito wonder kid, VS.
They say dynamite comes in small packages and most analysts believe the battle will be in the Popular Artist Award category where he will slug it out against heavyweights Chris such as Manto 7 and Vee as well as gospel's Tebby.

The winners of each category walks away with P15, 000, with runners-up pocketing P10,000 while third finishers are assured of P5,000 and the last group gets P2,000.
