Kigali — A delegation of Vietnamese tourism officials who also double as tourism researchers concluded their one week study trip to Rwanda.
According to the leader of the Vietnamese delegation, Nguyen Duy Khang, the delegation came with an aim of learning how Rwanda's tourism sector has managed to succeed in involving people in its conservation and protection programmes, and the way the Rwandan tourism sector has managed to mobilize substantial revenues and utilized them productively.
Nguyen noted that the Vietnamese tourism sector receives the same number of tourists as Rwanda annually, butt last year, the Vietnamese sector received one hundred thousand dollars compared to Rwanda's $ 7 million.
"Rwandans have excellent customer care and hospitality, and I think it's the secret behind the huge turnover from their tourism sector.
They have less tourism potentials compared to us but due to the value they have added, they have yielded more than us," said Nguyen.
"We have learned a lot from this visit and it's worth it. The reason why we skipped other countries and came to Rwanda is because of its security and its rapid development in the tourism sector, yet it has gone through a bad history," explained Nguyen.
The ORTPN officer in charge of coordination between national parks and the society, Telesphore Ngoga, welcomed the delegation's decision to choose Rwanda.
"This shows that indeed Rwanda's tourism sector has taken considerable strides and this gives us courage to put in more efforts to keep our position and the faith other countries have in us," remarked Ngoga.
He promised his Vietnamese counterparts that ORTPN would in the future also organize a visit to Vietnam to learn from each other and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
