JSE-listed black-empowered electrical wholesaler ARB Holdings has established a new global company to supply exports to Africa, and is aiming to grow its export revenue from R50m to R250m in the short term.

CEO Craig Robertson said yesterday the new company, ARB Global, would be a subsidiary of ARB Holdings and would start operations next month .

The group would supply products including power and instrumentation cabling, conductors, overhead line hardware, insulators and transformers and general electrical contracting materials.

"We realise the need to be competitive on the continent, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and take cognisance of what the east is offering and counter that," Robertson said.

H e did not disclose how much it would cost to set up the new company.

The aim was to grow the business five-fold in the short term as there were plenty of opportunities on the continent .

The group has targeted a number of countries in which to sell its products. It already does business in Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho.
