As the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) elective congress commences today, football stakeholders and fans are wondering whether the said congress will be a make or break for football in the country.Speaking to Concord Sports yesterday, Secretary General of Easton Rangers football club, Ishmael Sesay considers the congress as a determinant of what will become of the country's football in the next four years. From Sesay's point of view, electing Nahim Khadi as SLFA president for the second term implies that the country's football is heading for a big disaster as he has proven to be incapable of running football properly during his first term in office.
On the other hand, owner of first division league champions, Victor Lewis said whatever be the outcome of the election, is to make the country's football attain another height."The two aspirants have promised to support each other whatever be the outcome of the election. Anyone that is not going with that perception is a selfish person," Lewis said.Meanwhile, stakeholders have recently faced lots of criticism from fans, the ministry and other football followers for the current state of football in the country.
In a consultative meeting with stakeholders, both the sport minister, Minkailu Bah and his deputy, Algassimu Jah advised stakeholders to seek the interest of the country as they vote at the congress and should not allow money or material wealth to affect their decision to vote for the right man.The election of the next SLFA president who will rule for the next four years will be held on Saturday at the Miatta Conference hall. 49 delegates are expected to cast their votes.
