Kenya: Bishop of Kitui to Be Installed in August

The newly appointed bishop of the Catholic diocese of Kitui in eastern Kenya, Anthony Muheria will be installed on August 9, 2008 at the Kitui High School grounds from 10.00 am.
Until his appointment on June 28, 2008, Bishop Muheria was the Bishop of Embu Diocese. Muheria becomes the third bishop of the diocese of Kitui.
The Communication Coordinator of Kitui, James Singa told (CISA) that President Mwai Kibaki, Vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Cardinal John Njue are among the invited guests.
Kitui Diocese has been without a bishop for three years since June 25, 2005 when its bishop, Boniface Lele was appointed to the Archdiocese of Mombasa.
The diocese of Kitui has 64 local priests, five missionaries, 12 religious male and female and five deacons. There are 31 seminarians at various stages of formation, over 260,000 baptized Catholics 267 catechists and parishes 24.
