The 38th World Scout Conference, held in Jeju, South Korea, has re- elected Tunisia for a 6 year term as a member of the World Scout Committee, on Wednesday.

Tunisia's Scout leader, Mr Wahid Laabidi, has been re-elected following the mandate of the predecessor commissioner Mr Mohammed Triki. Mr Laabidi is a member of the Higher Council of Tunisia's Scouting Organisation, as well as the first deputy general commissioner.

He is the third Tunisian national to hold this position within the World Scout Committee, following Abdallah Zouaghi and Mohamed Triki.

The World Scout Committee is composed of 13 members representing some 137 national scout organisations throughout the world.

Even though, scouting began as early as in 1924 in Tunisia, the Tunisian Scouting Association was set up on February 16, 1977 as a national organisation.
