Police officers in Angola's eastern Moxico province, Friday in Luena, ended a training programme on protection of big events, in the light of the preparations for the legislative elections set for September 5 this year in the country.

During the five-day course, the participants tackled such subjects as "managing events in various situations", "preparation orders", "threats and risks", "national and international law", "assistance to sports venues" and "levels of intervention".

Addressing the closing session, the provincial commander of the National Police, in Moxico, sub-commissioner Elias Dumbo Livulo, pledged that the staff are equipped with knowledge to enable them secure orderly elections.

He also urged the district commanders to take very seriously the ongoing compulsory disarming of civilians in unlawful possession of firearms. The workshop gathered 51 chiefs of operative organs from provinces and districts' commands.
