Luanda — Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, João Bernardo de Miranda Friday left Luanda this Friday for Durban, South Africa, to attend the 10th ministerial conference of the organ on politics, defence and security of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
Addressing the press at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, the minister said that the political situation in the region, with highlight to that in Zimbabwe, will top the meeting's agenda.
He recalled the fact that Angola is the organ's co-ordinator, therefore the urgent need to attend the event.
The experts meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday was presided over by the secretary general of Angolan Foreign Affairs Ministry, Manuel Gomes, in the capacity of chair of the organ's presiding table.
Participants to the meeting analysed the implementation of decisions adopted by the organ's ministerial committee and examined the reports of the Inter-State Politics and Diplomacy Committee (ISPDC) and of the Inter-State Defence and Security Committee (ISDSC) of SADC.
Ratification of protocols on defence, public protection and state security, as well as the contribution of member States to the operation of support to peace in the region, were also analysed by experts. SADC comprises Angola, South Africa, Malawi, DRC, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Mauritius, Zambia, Tanzania, Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.
