Kampala — THE Police on Thursday arrested an Ethiopian refugee on suspicion that he raped a 13-year-old school girl in Kakajjo zone, Old Kampala, on Monday.
Jamal Gamado also known as Jamal Haftamu, who was detained at Old Kampala Police Station, reportedly raped a P.3 pupil of Kampala primary School at about 3:00pm.
The victim, an Ethiopian refugee, is an orphan living with her aunt Dasta Hajitu in Old Kampala.
Haftamu, who lives near the girl's home, drugged her and took her to a hotel as she was returning to school after having lunch at home, her uncle, Hussein Wotiye, said.
A medical report from St. Catherine's Clinic said the girl's hymen was ruptured.
However, family sources said yesterday the matter had been settled privately.
