Nigeria: Designers And Models Warm Up for Ibom Fashion Week

Lovely and exciting combinations of modern fabrics, embellishments,intricate designs, sheer African glamour will light up the catwalk of Uyo, as Netlink Communications, an Akwa Ibom State event outfit holds Ibom Fashion and Style show.
Ibom Fashion and Style show according to the organisers, is designed to be an annual fashion show that will sustain the fashion industry in Akwa Ibom State, by becoming a dream arena to showcase the creations of both up-and-coming as well as established fashion talents Akwa Ibom State has on offer.
The premier edition of the show, slated for next Friday at the prestigious Ibom Hall in Uyo, will feature seven designers and 40 models on the runway. Big names in the Akwa Ibom modelling industry , Idongesit Ben, Ubong Inyang, Mfon Udoh and Ekaette Etuk will lead the pack of models to exhibit creations made by established Uyo fashion designers; Annie G, Cowries and Basigz.
Guest designers of national and international acclaim that would bring their intercontinental flair and aplomb to the Ibom Fashion and Style catwalk include, Akwa Ibom State born Feron, Mon Ami, Modela and Emmy Couture.
According to the organisers of this show, a unique twist will be introduced on the runway through a costume parade that will mirror the cultural heritage and traditional trappings of Akwa Ibom people. Side attractions will be variously presented at interlude to jazz up the event.

Ubong Ekanem, the Business Development Executive of House of Gazelles Communications, the technical facilitators for this event says, the show will be a potent catalyst for the growth of our local fashion industry, not only for the designers but for the models too. It will consequently stimulate tourism and support charity, as 30% of proceeds from tickets will be used to service Hope Foundation, a charitable endeavour of Netlink Communications.
