Nigeria: 9ice Says I Do

19 July 2008

When he first hit limelight last year, following the success of his single 'Gongo Aso', ethnic singer 9ice told all that cared to listen that he was already engaged; and would be getting married before long. Now, the 28-year-old singer-songwriter has lived up to his words. Last Thursday, the sleek singer of Osun State origin 9ice exchanged vows with his fiancee Toni Oluwaseun Payne.

The wedding, which took place at the Surulere registry in Lagos, was attended by close friends and family members including his manager Oladehinde Fajana and his publicist Ayeni Adekunle. The singer's bride, former Miss Toni Payne, arrived Nigeria on Monday from her US base where she runs a clothing and cosmetics line.

9ice arrived the venue in his two cars (a VW Tuareg and Honda Accord) at exactly 8:59am. He wore a black suit with a white inner waist coat. His bride looked elegant in her flawless white wedding gown.

The registrar, Mrs. Tola Awoliyi, joined the couple at exactly 9:30am, after which they both signed the register.

STP learnt that the traditional engagement followed the registry immediately, in Surulere.

Chinyere Wilfred in London

As you read this, one of Nollywood's star actresses, Chinyere Wilfred, is in London arranging the production of a movie if not completing the production.

The well endowed talented artiste who also runs De Vision Beauty clinic off Akowonjo has been away for more than two weeks already and is said to be due back in the country in the next two weeks.

There is no way she would tell me that the snow she brought has melted because I won't take that.

Osayande Osunde buried

The past one week must have been very hectic for family, friends and well wishers of late media expert, Osayande Osunde, former Managing Director of TQA Communications who joined the saints a few months ago in a United States hospital.

The burial plans started with a service of songs at Household of God Church, Oregun, Lagos, where his life was eulogised and celebrated by his numerous friends including those at DBN were he started out his career.

His friend and partner Ehi Braimah leading all the TQA crew seemed nervously wrecked by the sudden and very untimely death of Osas and prayed that God give repose to his soul. He has already been buried in Benin.

Kwam 1 turns contractor

K1 de Ultimate fuji exponent is the name of Nigeria's number one Fuji music exponent but stories reaching us say he is also a top person in the heart of Governor Fashola of Lagos State. If not how do you explain the fact that his name keeps popping up as the contractor to do some of the major construction works in Lagos State?

A few days ago, some engineers were in Ejigbo, a major suburb in Lagos to do a road and its drainage system and the name of Kwam 1 was mentioned as the man in charge of the very major and hopefully juicy contract.

If not that the Fuji music exponent has had his hands in very succeesful projects, one would have wondered what a musician got to do with road contracts. We call upon him to please deliver so as not to soil the already established good name. That is if only the story is true that he is in charge oooo

Alade Aromire and his many wives

One thing several lovers of television will never forget about Alade Aromire is his foresight and achievements while alive. However, what they will also not forget about his lifestyle was his way with women. Famed to have all the charisma in this world, Aromire had five wives who all bore him children.

First wife Kudirat had two children for him, Jamiu and Sulaimon, Fausat had Jubril, while Toyin had Damilola. Others are Serifat who begat Dolapo and Gbemi while Yemisi is the last and heavily pregnant. What a way to score points. He tried his best indeed.

Maybe, the organisers of the show have forgotten that their viewers are longing to watch the show.

Business magnet Femi Otedola may be one of the richest persons in Nigeria and perhaps a very busy man, but one thing you cannot take away from the Lagos State-born dude, he loves his daughter. And to show the whole world just how much he cares for his blue-eyed daughter, the amiable businessman shut down part of high profile Eko Hotel to host the who's who in the society to plenty of dinning and wining. Of course there were comedians and musicians top add spice to the event. Please don't ask what gift, the young girl received for I may be quoted out of contest.
