Resolution of Cabinet Council that approves the national strategy on UN climate changes and kyoto convention
The Angolan Cabinet Council's resolution number 52/08 which approves the national strategy on the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, is officially in force since 05 June this year.
The diploma, which comes in the State Gazette number 102, first series, states that the strategy aims at outlining the framework of Angola's intervention in the legislative, technical and human fields to contribute to the stabilisation of greenhouse gas emission and the country's technological development.
It is also programmed the carrying out of inventories and drafting of reports on greenhouse gas emission in Angola and its impact on the environment and public health.
The plan equally includes technical and professional training programmes on climate change matters, boosting international co-operation in this field, encouragement and development of actions that involve the transfer and use of clean technology.
The strategy is based on principles of environment protection to benefit the present and future generations, in accordance with the country's responsibilities and capacities.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was approved in June 1992, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the UN Conference on Environment and Development.
