Tanzania: Central Market Shoot Down Alton in Pool Table Finals

The Arusha Central Market pool table team last week beat Alton 12-6 to win the Safari Lager pool table title in finals held at the Galaxy club downtown.

District Commissioner Evance Balama graced the finals attended by a huge number of fans.

Alton showed talents in the first rounds but were overcome in the three last plays by the Central Market who become the regional champions this season.

Central Market walked home with Tsh.200,000 under their belt plus Safari Lager drinks, courtesy of TBL while Alton got Tsh.150,000.

Tony Inn of Ngarenaro scooped third position in their meet against Mpalabukos and received Tsh.100,000 while their opponents got Tsh.50,000.

Speaking on behalf of the DC soon after the match, Councilor Vicky Mollel of the Arusha municipal council commended Tanzania Breweries Limited for sponsoring the competitions and called other corporations and companies in Arusha to support sporting events for the good of the Arusha community.

The pool table chairman, Murtari Abdul told the press after the games that 20 teams took part in the competitions.

The TBL Safari Lager pool table project manager, Victor Ndunguru said his company would finance the winners in the national finals to be held in Dar es Salaam on 20th July at the Diamond Jubilee.
